The Day After

This was the napping house this afternoon. They played so hard last night, they were up till about 11:00p.m. and up this morning at 8:00a.m. To tell the truth I can not remember the last time Cort took a nap. Cort was only down for about an hour, Grace on the other hand was out for 3 hours. Like I said they had a blast last night.

Tonight after Frank got home we went to the beach to see if Frank could get a king salmon, he heard from some people in town the they were in! Well, they may be in, just not in our freezer. It was a beautiful afternoon today and we just enjoyed being out!

The kids had a good time looking for snails and other critters. We did find a half dried up purple starfish. We are going to try to dry it our. Grandma Sandy said she would like to take one home when she is here in May. If you click on the picture with the kids you will see a barg in the background with a tug pulling it into the dock. It was really a neat thing to see so close.

I do like to get my sunset pictures! Frank was fishing behind me. This was looking the other way at one of the dock's that cruse ship come to in the summer.

New Friends

We had game night on Sunday, this is a picture of the crew! They had a blast, running, playing with lots of toys, and just being around each other. It is always nice to make new friends. They were so tired that the Moms and Dads even got in a few games after they got their jammies on and watched some cartoons.

Good Day for flying Kites?

When Frank got home from work today we went out to his new office to fly kites. Here in Metlakatla the wind is always blowing, except for today. We had the kite out and ready, we just could not keep it up! I know, what a problem.

There are a bunch of little ponds around Frank's new office. Cort wanted to get into the water so bad! He was a good listener, he stayed dry for Mom. Then later we went back to see what the kids were up to and they told us that they were having submarine races. I had to laugh, I thought that my mom told me submarine races were something else.

Nap Time

This afternoon we had a napping house. The only one that did not get a nap was Cort. When I woke up and saw Frank and Grace I had to get a picture! We will just not tell frank about this picture.

Home Sweet Home

When we got home from Ketchikan Grace and Frank were busy with their toys from town. Frank is in the background of both pictures putting together his new grill. He was so excited! Grace picked out a bubble blower for her toy. Both kids had a ball with the bubbles. I was to busy putting everything away to dig into my plants that I need to get started. I got some bulbs and bags of dirt, I can't wait to get dirty! Cort, poor boy, had to get the last of his shots so he would be ready for school in the fall. He ended up getting two big bad shots, MMR & the second chicken pox. So, he ended up getting a big dart gun. That helped a little with the shots. It was great to get 3 days and 2 nights in town, but it is so nice to be home.

Ketchikan Get Away

We are in Ketchikan for a few days. Today was so beautiful! We started out by checking out Creek Street, formally known as the Red Light District of Ketchikan.

The Sun was so nice, it was the driest day we have ever seen in Ketchikan. Cort was trying to decide if he wanted his picture taken or not.

Later this afternoon we went for a drive to the interior part of the island. We found a little bit of snow. Hard to believe that this picture was taken just a few hours after the Creek Street pictures. We even saw a black tail Deer on our drive, it was at dusk so the picture was pretty dark.

I made Frank stop at a pull out on our way back to the Motel so that I could get an end of our day picture. I am hopping that tomorrow will be as nice as today was. That way our ferry ride will be smooth.

Yucky Morning Outside

Today was a bluster day, as Winnie the Pooh would say. All night and all day we had winds of about 40 mph, and sheets of sideways rain. When it looks and sounds like that outside it is time to find something we don't do very often. Play-Doh! Grace is showing off her Daddy snake. Can I make a suggestion, never give dark brown play-Doh to any children. I know Grace was very proud of her Daddy snake, but that is just not what I kept seeing. Cort was so cute! He made the green Play-Doh come out of the sheep, that is sitting on the table. Then he put the green on the table and told me he made a wool sweater. That is the green outline on the table. I wonder where he learns these things. I don't think I have talked about how the wool from sheep makes wool sweaters. I guess the Discovery, Science, & National Geographic channels are a good thing.

Backyard Builders

Today was a building day. Cort and Grace were working on a cave for his army guys. They had many trips with the Tonka. Good thing they are built so tough! I think that every kid need at least 2 or 3 Tonkas.

Grace was such a hard worker! The only thing that would make Grace like her brother's Tonka more is if it were pink.

This was just the beginning of the cave, I did not get another picture after they were done. I will have to send that picture another day.

Small Pond

Yesterday we went for a drive to Tamgas bay, on the way there is a little pond that flows into Tamgas bay. There is a steep set of stairs that leads down to the water. Grace was to spooked to walk down by herself. Then on the way back up it was ok to go by herself. Frank and Grace had fun goofing off with pretending to slide down the railing. Then Grace, being the girl she is, wanted her picture taken looking through the railing. Cort on the other hand did not want his picture taken at all! We have not been to the beach since my mom and grandma left. There is going to be a -3.4 tide coming up this week, so be ready for more beach pictures.
