Hungry Hippos
The calendar counting is done, the grandmas and Aunt Natalie are here! Grace wasted no time in grabbing Hungry Hippos to play as soon as they got here. I was hoping to get to a beach today, but it rained all day. Maybe tomorrow we will see some sunshine. Nat was checking in with her boys, all is well in ID.

Western coast of Annette Island
Today when we were checking out the western coast of Annette Island we found lots of amazing and interesting things. We found this little kelp crab, isn't he cute. He did not want us to be around. So we left him in peace and went on to find other things.
This is the swing that we found on the beach. The swing is tied up on a limb about 50 feet up. The kids do not like to swing on it, they get scared. I love this swing and Frank can't pull me back far enough! I still have not gone for a ride during high tide. It would be fun to swing out over the water. Frank said he does not trust the swing, what a chicken.
The kids found some snails in one of the tide pools. They had a lot of fun watching them and letting them slime around on Cort's finger. Grace was not patient enough for the snail to come back out of its sell after picking it up.
Cort and I found a Scarlet Anemone. I learned something with the anemone when they are under the water you can touch them with a stick and they do not disappear right away. The first picture is before the stick. The second picture is after I started messing with the sand around the anemone. I was impressed with how the pictures turned out since it was underwater. Frank saw one on the beach and he said that when he stepped on it, it spit water at him.

Sunset at Tamgas
Today when we got home from Ketchikan we thought we would try to catch low tide. We were to early for the tide and we were losing daylight. I was able to get a nice sunset picture, so it was all worth while.
Ketchikan was a quick trip and lots of groceries. We are now officially ready for company! Mom, Grandma and Natalie will be here on Thursday the 28th!

An Exciting Night
Tonight was a successful beach hunt. We found an anemone, three red cancer crabs, and a purple star. Frank thought the kids should learn to tease the crabs with sticks. Everyone took a turn with the stick. They would grab the stick every time you put it in their claws. The kids had so much fun.
The kids and I were checking out a Purple Star. It was tight to the rocks and sand, he did not want to be picked up.
This is what the beach looked like while we were leaving. We stayed as long as we could.

They really do love each other!
No mater how much they disagree, there are times that they really do love to spend time with each other. Cort was taking Grace for a ride in the driveway.
Backyard Adventure
Today the weather was so nice that the kids and I decided to explore the backyard. Cort and Grace did it once by themselves and I did not like that at all. The new rule is not without Mom or Dad. The ground is muskeg, so it is very spongey to walk on. I took this picture toward the house. Do you see our blue house? I could see how we might not be able to go up there in the summer, as there are going to be a ton on bugs!

Daddy's little angel
Fish hatchery beach
Today we stopped at the beach by the fish hatchery. The kids had a great time running around. Grace only fell once, that is good for her.
The kids had fun exploring the new beach. I did not care for the beach much. The only thing that we found were muscles. I did like the drift wood.
In the picture of Cort he is pointing to a "Sea Trench".

We are still here!
The weather has been yucky! We have spent the last week looking like the picture above. Looking at the TV and playing with the dart gun. So that means no beaches and not a lot of outside time. I am hopping to get to the beach tomorrow. If I end up subbing then it will have to wait a few more days. The kids are starting to go a little stir crazy. Yesterday they even spent about an hour playing while it was raining. When that happens, I strip them at the door. Their wet clothes go strait to the washer and they put dry sweats on. Yes, and then of course, Hot Cocoa! Maybe I will have new pictures soon.

Cookies for Daddy
We were going to make snickerdoodles, I went down to the store to get some eggs. Well, one of the down falls of living on an island is occasionally the store will run out of necessities. You know like eggs and milk. Cort had a lot of fun dropping the globs of chocolate on the way paper! I think his favorite part of the cookies was cleaning the spoon and pot. What do you think?

The worn out Kid
Cort had a busy day the other day. When Frank went to check on him in bed he thought he was still awake. Then he went into his room he saw that he was really asleep. It was so cute I asked Frank if he thought the flash on the camera would wake Cort? He was so deep in sleep that his eyelids did not even twitch. It scares me a little to think of all the stuff going through his little mind right now.

Magnetix Morning
Today was a building day! Cort found his bag of Magnetix toys out. They are great now. Cort got them when he was 3. I managed to keep them hidden till now. As you can see lots of small parts, both kids has a blast making different things with the magnets.

Living Room Tent
Today it was cold and yucky outside and the kids were getting restless. So I told them to go get the pillow and blankets out of their rooms. I went and got a sheet and the excitement had begun. They had so much fun. Before I knew it it was afternoon, what a great way to spend the first part of the day. I remember how much fun I had doing this when I way young.
